40 golfers teed it up at Pike Hills for the York Union Championships, with Matt Dolling shooting 69 to claim the title by 1 shot from Andrew Bell of Fulford. 4 birdies in 6 holes on the front 9 gave Matt a 3 under front under - which he consolidated dropping just one shot on the back 9. Andrew left it late to mount his challenge but made 3 birdies in his last 5 holes to shoot a 1 under 70. 3 players tied for 3rd with Tom Ellerker (Sandburn Hall), Chris Hornby and Tom Pyman (Easingwold) all shooting 73 on a day with some fast greens and tricky pin positions. Tom also claimed the Seward Trophy for the best Junior.
