Kirkbymoorside pair triumph in LWS3
The sun shone on the final ladies event of the winter at Heworth GC, but the course (as per usual) proved to be a very tough test as only one of 12 pairs managed to beat par in a betterball event.
Julie Smith and Lucy Astle from Tadcaster GC played well for 36 points and will be rueing their blob on the 5th - however they came in 2nd place and took home some prize money. Claire Fletcher played the round of the day - making a strong start with partner Elaine Arnott, 3 under after 4 holes including a 2 on the 2nd. They gave the shots back through the middle of the round - but a strong finish (3 under in the last 5 holes) ensured a comfortable win for the Kirkbymoorside pair.
An excellent day, made better by the weather and they excellent hosting by Heworth GC - with the ever dependable Eddie Travis on starter duties and Nicky behind the bar ensuring people were fed and watered.
