Quality over quantity as Heworth claim 1900th anniversary bowl
Hats off to Heworth after brilliant net 63's from both pairs (Jim Batt / Ian Dodsworth and Dave Fogg / Mark Atkinson). 18 handicapper Ian Dodsworth did the bulk of the scoring with 8 pars as the pair only dropped one shot against the course. Mark Atkinson and Dave Fogg made 3 net eagles to help them to their 10 under score. Home pair Darrin Frew and Gary Greeenwood were the only to get near the Heworth score - also making 3 net eagles in their 9 under 64. An honourable mention to Forest of Galtres - who had 3 pairs in the top 7 but couldn't quite match the spectacular scoring of Heworth. Sad to note that current holders Forest Park, despite their number of entries, lacked quality on the day, with 9 of their 11 pairs finishing in the bottom 10 - however huge thanks for their ongoing support of the York Union events - today almost wouldn't have been viable without them !
